WINDSOR – Raymond Levere Elfner, 91, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 at Manor Care Kingston Court. He was the husband of Carol J. (Glatfelter) Elfner to whom he was married for 27 years on Dec. 27, 2014. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 121 W. Broadway, Red Lion with his pastor, The Rev. Ronald Doverspike officiating. A viewing will be held from 1-2:00 PM Friday at the Church. Burial will be in Freysville Union Cemetery with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born November 14, 1923 in Red Lion a son of the late George R. and Pearl I. (Runkle) Elfner, he was a graduate of Red Lion Area High School. Mr. Elfner owned and operated Elfner’s Auto Service and Glass Shop until his retirement. He loved working and being around automobiles and antique cars. He was longtime member at Bethany U.M. and their Men’s Bible class and was a life member at Red Lion American Legion and VFW and York Rifle Range. Raymond joined the York Hiking Club in 1962 and was an avid hiker. He also enjoyed hunting and took many hunting trips to the western and southern states along with Anticosti Island in Canada and shared a hunting cabin in Potter Co. with mutual friends. Raymond was a US Army Infantry veteran of WWII where he earned three Bronze Stars. In addition to his wife, Mr. Elfner is survived by a son, Craig E. Elfner of York; a daughter, L. Lenore and husband Jason Brown of Fishers, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany U.M. Church, 121 W. Broadway, Red Lion, PA 17356.
