Raymond L. Sanders

GETTYSBURG- Raymond L. Sanders, 85, of Gettysburg, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at Spirit Trust Lutheran in Gettysburg. He was the husband of the late Marian V. (Draper) Sanders. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, 1054 Ridgewood Drive in York, with a visitation from 10-11 a.m. His pastor, The Reverend Danielle Neff will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in York. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Sanders was born in Hanover on April 8, 1931, the son of the late Clifford and Pauline (Leppo) Sanders. He worked for Standard Register in York and then delivered food for Ettline Foods. Mr. Sanders was a long time member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ in York. He was a 1949 graduate of Eichelberger High School in Hanover. He and Marian were lifelong campers. They were members of the Early Bird’s and White Rose Camping Clubs. They enjoyed travelling across the country and especially their memorable trip to Alaska. Mr. Sanders leaves a son, Gregg L. Sanders and his wife Nancy of Frederick, MD; a daughter, Melody R. Sanders of Milwaukee, WI; three grandchildren, Kyle and Claudia Sanders, and Jereme Kniess; four great grandchildren, Isabell, Ava, Jaiden, and Sophia. He also leaves, three brothers, Merle, Dick, and Laverne “Sonny” Sanders, all of Hanover and a sister Jackie Zepp of Hanover. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dale Sanders.
