SAYRE- Raymond L. Hoppaugh, 69, of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2011 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. He was the loving husband of Joann (Ulmer) Hoppaugh. The couple married April 9, 1965 and had 46 happy years together. The graveside service to honor Ray’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the Hillside (Big Pond) Cemetery on the Big Pond Road in Big Pond, PA with Rev. Richard Noggle of the Big Pond United Methodist Church officiating. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Ray was born on February 2, 1942 in Califon, NJ son of the late Russell L. and Elsie (Bonnet) Hoppaugh. After college Ray took on his lifelong career as a dairy farmer. Ray was also employed as a dairy nutritionist for the Pennfield Feed Company out of Lancaster County, PA and retired on August 18, 2010. Back in New Jersey he was a member of the Fairmont Fire Company in Long Valley, and was a member of the Progressive Dairymen’s Association here in Pennsylvania and an esteemed member of the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists. Ray is survived by his wife Joann, his son Daniel (Kim) Hoppaugh of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, his grandchildren: Daniel Jr. and Paige Lin, his nephew Matthew Carlsen, and nieces: Pamela (Eric) Simcoe and France (Wayne) Huddleson. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Jane Carlsen Stapleton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Ray’s memory to the Dialysis Unit of Robert Packer Hospital, 1 Guthrie Sq., Sayre, PA 18840, or to the Bradford County Public Library, 16093 Route 6 Troy, PA. 16947 or to the Bradford County Humane Society, P.O. Box 179 Ulster, PA 18850.
