BROGUE – Raymond E. Tompkins, 87, passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at Rest Haven – York. He was the husband of Pauline M. (Green) Tompkins with whom he was married for 67 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 16, 2015 at Guinston Presbyterian Church, 14130 Guinston Forge Road, Airville with his pastor, The Rev. Daniel R. Moore and former pastor, The Rev. Jack Maisch officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM Friday at the Church. Burial will be in the Guinston Presbyterian Cemetery with a military flag folding detail provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born November 18, 1927 in Chanceford Twp., a son of the late William C. and Linnia S. (Strawbridge) Tompkins, he worked as a welder at Harley Davidson, Inc. for 35 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Tompkins was a member of Guinston Presbyterian Church where he taught Sunday school for 30 years and served as an Elder. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting, going to flea markets and yard sales. Raymond loved watching his grandchildren play baseball and following the Phillies. He will be remembered as a man that would do anything for you. Mr. Tompkins was a US Army veteran of WWII. In addition to his wife, Mr. Tompkins is survived by three daughters, Gloria J. Wright of Brogue, Mary A. and husband Phil Minnich of Brogue, and Sandy D. Tompkins of Brogue; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth “Cecil” Tompkins of York. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lori Wright; three brothers; and three sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to Guinston Presbyterian Church, c/o Building Fund, 14130 Guinston Forge Rd., Airville, PA 17302.
