YORK-Raymond E. Sneddon, 75, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia A. (McAleer) Sneddon to whom he was married 43 years. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Pastor Ken Loyer of Spry Church, officiating. Viewings will be held Wednesday, July 6 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home and from 9-10 AM Thursday prior to the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born September 22, 1940 in Frackville, PA, Ray was a son of the late Cyrus Raymond and Gladys (Derr) Sneddon. He worked in maintenance for York International for 35 years until his retirement. Ray was a member of the City of York and West York Fire Departments and Fire Police, the Viking Athletic Association, the Shiloh American Legion Post #791, the West York VFW Post#8951, and both the York County and PA State Bowling Association. He had a lifelong love for bowling which began at a young age when he worked setting pins at Lincolnway Bowling Alley. Mr. Sneddon served our country in the United States Army. Along with his wife, Patricia, Mr. Sneddon is survived by two sons, Mark L. Sneddon and his wife Kathy of Dover, and Daniel E. Sneddon and his wife Brandi J. of West York; five daughters, Tammy M. Souders and her husband Greg of Dallastown, Barbara A. Hake of York, Sandra E. Wertz and her companion Eric Spangler of Spring Grove, Connie S. Cooksey of Biglerville, and Robin Sneddon of Weigelstown; 14 grandchildren, Sabrina, Shawn, Andrew, Trisha, Gary, Cameron, Kayla, Austin, Zachary, Nathan, Ryan, Kirsten, Alyssa, and James; three great grandchildren, Liam, Kellen, and Kylee; two brothers, Edward G. Sneddon of West York and Glenn E. Sneddon and his wife Beverly of Monticello, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Robert Sneddon and a sister, Elsie “Betsy” Frey.
