Red Lion — Raymond E. Arnold, Jr., 70, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at his residence. He was the husband of Sandra L. (Eckert) Arnold with whom he celebrated 49 years of marriage on May 23rd. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10 AM, Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with his pastor, the Rev. Samantha Torgersen and Certified Celebrant Jessica Smith. Viewings will be held from 6-8 PM, Wednesday and from 9-10 AM, Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Red Lion Cemetery. Born August 1, 1943 in Red Lion, he was a son of the late Evelyn Mae (Runkle) Arnold and Raymond E. Arnold, Sr. He was a 1961 graduate of Red Lion High School. He became Borough Manager of Red Lion in 1977 and served the borough for 28 years before retiring in 2005. Ray had a tremendous sense of civic duty; he was an active participant with the Red Lion Area Ambulance Assoc., since its inception in 1974 and served as a board member for the past 19 years. He was also deeply involved with the Red Lion Fire Department for over 30 years, where he served in front line and executive offices as well as firefighting and driving. In 1993 he joined the Red Lion Lion’s Club and held many offices during his time of membership and was part of the American Red Cross, providing Disaster Relief to local families and volunteered at the First Aid Station at the York Fair every year. For all of his dedicated work for Red Lion, he was honored with the Catherine Meyer Award in 2005. A faithful and loyal fan to Red Lion Athletics, he became even more enthusiastic when his grandsons started to play. Ray loved watching Brooks and Logan and never missed a game or match. He also loved boating and fishing with his family and was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Red Lion. In addition to his wife, Ray is also survived by one son, Troy L. Arnold and wife Heather of Red Lion; two grandsons, Brooks S. and Logan M. Arnold of Red Lion; one sister, Wilma F. Lloyd of Ocala, FL and one nephew, Greg Lloyd. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Stacy Jo Arnold and brother-in-law, Myles E.
