Raymond D. Cozzi

RENOVO - Raymond D. Cozzi, 78, of Farwell, passed peacefully with his daughter Lucretia Cozzi Dawson and niece Shannon Fields Gentzyel by his side on May 9, 2016. Born in Renovo on Jan. 5, 1939, he was the son of Patrick D. Cozzi and Shirley Hale Cozzi. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School completing the eighth grade before going off to work. He was employed at PennDOT Highway at an early age, planting trees and repairing roadways for 10 years. He spent 11 years on Speno Rail Grinding Service where he traveled the United States fixing train rails as a welder. He came back home to Renovo where he worked at the Berwick Forge and Fabrication Plant for 11 years. He also worked in New Hampshire with his brothers at the Seabrook Power Plant for several years. He ended his work history as a pipefitter at the shops in Renovo. He was a 40 year member of the Pipeliners Union Local 798. He was a long standing member of the Elks Club and the Sons of Italy in Renovo. He was a longtime contributor to the Boys Club and to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children. He will be remembered as an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to get into his canoe and paddle the river behind his house with his dogs Willie and Moe. He was an avid gardener and every year loved to share his crop with family and neighbors. He loved flowers of all kinds, especially receiving them. He was a wine maker, gardener, hunter, tinkerer, fixer upper, welder and lover of collecting "STUFF." We will miss him most for his infectious laugh, smile, and always being right "no matter what." He is survived by his daughter, Lucretia Cozzi Dawson of Costa Rica, and his son, Raymond D. Cozzi, Jr. of Ft. Worth, Texas, five sisters, four brothers, numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Maxwell Funeral Home from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The family invites friends and family to join them at the Sportsman’s for food and drinks at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Southern Care Hospice, 1544 E.
