YORK- Raymond D. Berky Berkheimer, 81, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Pleasant Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2011 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A viewing will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held at St. Jacobs Union Cemetery in York New Salem. Mr. Berkheimer was born on September 5, 1929 in York, a son of the late Howard J. and Annie May (Klinedinst) Berkheimer. Raymond worked as a Assembler for Teledyne Readco for 24 years. Mr. Berkheimer served our country for three years in the U.S. Army. Mr. Berkheimer was an avid airplane enthusiast. He was a member of the Airforce Museum Foundation, Mid Atlantic Air Museum, National Warplane Museum, American Aviation Historical Society and the Hi-Fliars Breakfast Group. He also enjoyed spending his spare time at the York Airport. Berky is survived by a cousin, Barry Klinedinst and his wife Barbara of York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Air Force Museum Foundation, P.O. Box 1903, Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio, 45433.
