Raymond D. 'Berky' Berkheimer

YORK- Raymond D. Berky Berkheimer, 81, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Pleasant Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2011 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A viewing will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held at St. Jacobs Union Cemetery in York New Salem. Mr. Berkheimer was born on September 5, 1929 in York, a son of the late Howard J. and Annie May (Klinedinst) Berkheimer. Raymond worked as a Assembler for Teledyne Readco for 24 years. Mr. Berkheimer served our country for three years in the U.S. Army. Mr. Berkheimer was an avid airplane enthusiast. He was a member of the Airforce Museum Foundation, Mid Atlantic Air Museum, National Warplane Museum, American Aviation Historical Society and the Hi-Fliars Breakfast Group. He also enjoyed spending his spare time at the York Airport. Berky is survived by a cousin, Barry Klinedinst and his wife Barbara of York.
