RED LION – Randy M. Boyd passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 to Billy Ray Cyrus singing Achy Breaky Heart.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Viewings will be held from 7-9:00 PM Friday and 9-10:00 AM Saturday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salem Community Cemetery (460 Salem Church Road, Windsor, PA).
Randy was born in 1952 to Viola and Mr. Sutherland. Donald E. Boyd chose to become Randy’s father a few years later when Donald married Viola. Randy was raised by Donald and Viola with his four siblings: Donald E. Boyd, Jr., Roxanne McFarland, Linda Fauth, and Bonnie Loibl.
He was the husband of the late Mary Ellen for over 4 decades. Randy and Mary had three surviving children: Amy M., Andrew M., and Randy L. His granddog, Aku, provided him considerable comfort and cuddles in his recliner during his final weeks. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Randy worked as a custodian and dishwasher with the Red Lion School district, Jerry's Great Valu, and Lion’s Pride. Randy was very social during his retirement and enjoyed calling people on the phone. He could be found with his girlfriend, Yvonne Cox, at the Red Lion VFW or Double Barrel Roadhouse nearly every weekend. Randy’s favorite hobby was mowing his lawn. He often told Yvonne that once he healed up, he would take her for a ride on his John Deere.
Instead of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in memory of Randy to the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation (https://diabetesresearch.org), Sansum Diabetes Research Institute (https://sansum.org), or Red Lion VFW Post 1446.
