Ralph O. Treat

YORK TOWNSHIP- Ralph O. Treat, 90, of York, formerly of Arkansas died Friday, December 28, 2007 at The Haven at Springwood. He was the husband of the late Sallie M. (Bergbower) Treat. A service and burial will be held in Arkansas, with a memorial service to be held at a later date in Shrewsbury. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Treat was born on June 6, 1917 a son of the late Flippin P. and Della L (Sutterfield) Treat. He worked as a Shift Foreman on the Manhattan Project in Buffalo, NY, worked in the Technical Services Department for J.M. Huber Corporation in Borger, TX and Havre de Grace, MD for 25 years, and was a Justice of the Peace in Marshall, AR for four years. He attended Eastern Illinois University. He has been a resident of York for the last four years. Mr. Treat was a member of the First Baptist Churches of Marshall, AR, Shrewsbury, and Havre de Grace, MD. He was a member of the Rotary Club for 25 years and the Elks Lodge in Havre de Grace, MD. He was an avid golfer and a member of Swan Creek C.C. in Maryland and Indian Hills C.C. in Arkansas. Mr. Treat leaves two daughters: Marilyn Mergler of Aberdeen, MD and Patricia Slayton of New Freedom; five grandchildren: Tanna Darrell of Weatherford, TX, Sharon Back of Tyler, TX, Jeff Mergler of West Milford, NJ, Heather Mitchell of Juneau, AK, and Bobby Slayton, Jr., of New Freedom; six great grandchildren; and a sister Madge Martin of Gassville, AR. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Dopson of Weatherfield, TX and Marshall, AR and three sisters: Ione, Atha and Mary Rose; and two brothers: Howard and Price.
