Ralph L. Lauer, Sr.

YORK- Ralph L. Lauer, Sr., 88 passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Colonial Manor. He was the husband of the late Elinor M. (Loucks) Lauer, who passed away on October 4, 2011. The couple wed on October 25, 1947 and had been married for 64 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A viewing will be from 4-5 p.m. prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Greenmount Cemetery, 721 Carlisle Ave., York with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A funeral cortege will meet at the entrance of the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Born on January 8, 1925 in York, he was a son of the late Curtis and Maria (Wintermyer)Lauer. Ralph was a graduate of William Penn Sr. High School and worked as a tool and die maker for York International for 41 years until his retirement. Mr. Lauer served our country in the United States Navy during WWII and was stationed on the USS Arkansas. Ralph enjoyed going to the beach and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed roller skating and playing tennis with his family and friends. Mr. Lauer is survived by two sons, Ralph Lauer, Jr. of York and Alan Lauer of Harrisburg; one daughter, Susan Smith of York; three grandchildren, Mitchell Lauer, Aubrie Smith and Chelsea Smith; one great grandson, Jacob Lauer; and one brother, Paul Lauer of York.
