Ralph J. 'Bud' Hoover

York—Ralph J. “Bud” Hoover, 86, died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home. He was the husband of Betty M. (Lau) Hoover. The couple celebrated 66 years of marriage on March 8th. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 AM, Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York with his pastor, the Rev. Matthew H. Stillman officiating. A visitation will be held from 9-10 AM, Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Christ (Roth’s) Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery. Born November 21, 1926 in Paradise Township, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Maude C. (Laughman) Hoover. He was employed with P. H. Glatfelter as a paper maker for 38 years until his retirement in 1989. A United States Army Veteran of World War II, he was also a member of St. Paul’s (Wolf’s) Evangelical Covenant Church, Spring Grove V.F.W and Lincolnway Fire Company. He enjoyed boating at the river, building model airplanes and helping his son’s with household projects. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hoover is also survived by four sons, Charles L. Hoover and wife, Christine, John M. Hoover and wife, Sally, Dean M. Hoover and wife, Linda and Timothy A. Hoover and wife, Jane; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a great grandson Gavin Campbell, five brothers, Ray, Earl, Paul, Claude and Clair Hoover and two sisters, Amelia Myers and Beulah Luckinbaugh.
