Raejeanne Y. Smith

Raejeanne Y. (Miller) Smith, 91, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at her residence in York.

Born in Sticks on February 28, 1933, to the late Paul E. Miller and Bessie (Craig) Kiser, Raejeanne cherished her rural upbringing, often sharing fond memories of her childhood on the family farm. Later, she married her beloved William R. Smith, Sr., and together they celebrated 66 years of marriage until his passing in 2008. Raejeanne took great pride in the service of both her father and husband as veterans.

Raejeanne was admired for her many passions, such as antiquing, interior decorating, and refinishing furniture. Her home was a true reflection of her appreciation for beauty and detail. She was renowned for her gracious hosting, crafting memorable gatherings that her friends and family held dear. She found immense joy in delighting her guests with delicious meals and a warm, inviting atmosphere. When Raejeanne was hosting, every detail was thoughtfully considered and nothing was overlooked. Her appreciation for music, dancing, theater, reading, and art was ever-present. She also maintained a strong interest in genealogy and enjoyed sharing her family's rich history.

Before retiring early, Raejeanne worked as a devoted nurse at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and later at Bear Department Store in York.

Raejeanne will be remembered for her warm demeanor, engaging conversations, and generous nature. She embraced life fully, serving as a volunteer for the American Heart Association and selflessly giving of herself to others. Her legacy of kindness will live on in the hearts of all who loved her and were touched by her compassion.

Raejeanne is survived by a son, Dennis G. Smith of York; a daughter, Michele E. (Smith) Buser of Wrightsville; seven grandchildren, Laura Looks, Molly Smith, Adam Smith, Sierra Cunningham, Christian Buser, Kieran Buser, and Sadie Buser; nine great grandchildren; and a sister, Shonna Kiser of York. She was preceded in death by two sons, Glenn P. Smith and William R. Smith, Jr.; a sister, Phyllis E. Miller; and a granddaughter, Mikinna R. Buser.
