RED LION- R. Clark Jacobs, 99, died on Saturday afternoon, July 9, 2011 at his home in Red Lion. He was the husband of the late Bernice E. (Baker) Jacobs, who passed away on June 13, 1991. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church, 220 N. Charles St., Red Lion, with his pastor, the Reverend Dr. William H. Cluley officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 prior to the service. Burial will be held at Red Lion Cemetery. Mr. Jacobs was born on February 7, 1912 in Red Lion, the son of the late I. Henry and Flora Jane (Rost) Jacobs. For numerous years he owned and operated G. W. Van Slyke & Horton, Inc. The company was the parent company of T.E. Brooks & Co. and manufactured fine cigars. Clark started his career in Windsor, where he sold tobacco cuttings for chewing tobacco. Mr. Jacobs was also a dairyman. For numerous years, he owned and operated a dairy farm in Chanceford Twp. Mr. Jacobs was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Mr. Jacobs was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the New Bridgeville Fire Co. He was also a member of the American Guernsey Association, American Angus Association and DHIA. His hobbies included painting, farming, and playing the organ and piano. Mr. Jacobs is survived by two sons, Richard C. Jacobs and his wife, Geri of Brogue and Joe A. Jacobs and his wife, Lorann of Dallastown; a daughter, Jane Steinfelt and her husband, Steve of Yuma, AZ; two grandchildren, Jennifer Rudolf of Fox Lake, IL and Christine Jacobs of Jacobus; one great granddaughter, Natalie Jane Rudolf; two step grandchildren, Stacy Blessing and Valerie Myers; three step great grandchildren, Candice Tyson, Corine Klimer and Emily Myers; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Schaefer. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Organ & Steeple Fund, 220 N. Charles St., Red Lion, PA 17356
