York—Preston H. Trout, 92, died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at his residence in W. Manchester Township. He was the husband of the late Alma R. (Grove) Trout with whom he was married for 61 years. A funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, with his pastor, the Rev. Brenda Ferree, officiating. A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be held in Salem Union Cemetery in Jacobus. Born December 13, 1917 in Springfield Township, he was a son of the Melvin and Hattie (Reever) Trout. Preston was employed with Fisher's Meat Market as a Butcher for over 40 years and later retired from Gem Candy Company after several years of service in 1980. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, where he participated in the married couples class and formerly sat as a council member. An avid New York Yankees fan, he also enjoyed traveling with his wife, as a young man he raised beagles, was the champion of a spelling bee hosted by the York County Court House and was a life member of Bupp's Union Sunday School. Mr. Trout is survived by his daughter, Shirley A. Trout of York and one sister, Romaine Greenplate of York and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 25 N. Adams Street, York, Pa 17404.
