Phyllis S. (Smith) Mohan

YORK- Phyllis Jeanne (Smith) Mohan, 89, loving and cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, joyfully departed this earth to receive her eternal reward in Heaven on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at 10:19 AM in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Tom. Her daughters surrounded her with their love as she left. Born April 26, 1925, at home in York, Phyllis was the third daughter, seventh child, of Alfred J. and Anna Catherine (Brickner) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. She was an employee of York Casket Company until her retirement in 1989. Phyllis was a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in York. She lived for her faith and her family, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by three daughters, Frances M. 'Frankie' Snyder and her husband, Stan, of Livingston, LA; Sally Clingan and her husband, Tom, of York; Susan Dolla and her husband, Scott, of York; and her brother, Robert Gangloff, of York. She also leaves ten grandchildren: Michael Snyder (Angela), French Settlement, LA; Amy Snyder, Lottie, LA; Shea Snyder (Katye), Gulf Breeze, FL; Karlin Snyder (Megan), Fordoche, LA; Ryan Clingan (Kelly), Spring Grove; Christopher Clingan (Marci), Haleiwa, HI; Shannon Engles (Doug), York; Ashley Dolla (Kyle), Philadelphia; Jason Dolla, Long Beach, CA; and Alexandra Dolla, West Chester. Fourteen great-grandchildren will also miss her loving presence - Brendan Soulier (Tana), Denham Springs, LA; Masen Garvin, Kemp, TX; Olivia and Sophia Sonnier, Lottie, LA; Austen and Wendy Snyder, Gulf Breeze, FL; Keili Snyder, Fordoche, LA; Drake and Chase Rushlow, French Settlement, LA; Zackery, Madysen, and Colt Clingan, Spring Grove; and Emma and Colin Engles, York. Sadly, another great-grandson, Cash Clingan, due in November, will not have the blessed opportunity to enjoy time with his Grams here on Earth, nor will Phyllis' first great-great grandchild, Amelia Soulier, who is due in December. A Funeral Mass in Phyllis’ honor will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at 10:00 AM, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, preceded by visitation at 9:00 AM. Luncheon and Celebration of Phyllis' Life will be held at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Scott, 106 Ivy St., York, from 11:30 - 4:00, on October 4th. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
