Phyllis E. (Alwood) Spahr

WEST MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP- Phyllis E. (Alwood) Spahr, 86, of York died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Robert W. Spahr. The couple celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on June 3, 2012. Mrs. Spahr was born in West York on October 20, 1926, the daughter of the late Paul R. and Mary E. (Hershey) Alwood. She retired after 16 years as a weaver for Bluebird Silk Mill in 1991. Mrs. Spahr was a member of Shiloh United Church of Christ, Liberty Social Club, York Eagles Club #183, Emporium Moose Lodge #368, and was an auxiliary member of both the Shiloh American Legion post 791 and Kreutz Creek VFW post 104. She was a 1944 graduate of West York Senior High. Along with her husband, Mrs. Spahr leaves three grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph Alwood of York. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Slonaker.
