Phyllis B. Joseph

WILKES BARRE - Phyllis B. Joseph, 87, of Hanover Township, died Saturday at the Geisinger Medical Center, Wyoming Valley. Born in Wilkes-Barre on August 22, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Stella Gulbish Wasley. She was a 1942 graduate of Hanover Township High School. On Feb 10, 1948 she married the late John D. “Jack” Joseph, who died Sept 29, 2006. She was a member of St. Aloysius Church for more than 60 years. She was a member of the ILGWU. Until retiring, she was employed by Sea Isle Sportswear and Roxanne Fashions. After her retirement she received great joy from being involved in the Foster Grandparent program at Kistler Elementary School, Wilkes-Barre. In addition to her parents and her husband Jack, she was preceded in death by: a brother Edmund Wasley and a granddaughter Michelle Schuler. Surviving are: two sons, Stanley Joseph and his wife Kathy, Pikes Creek, and Richard Joseph and his wife Karen, Hughestown; a daughter Susan Schuler and her husband Robert, Macungie; eight grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas Joseph, Michael, Matthew and Jeffrey Schuler, Ricky and Stephanie Joseph; four great grandchildren, McKenzie and Morgan Schuler, and Nicholas and Emily Joseph; a sister Gertrude Muchler; nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 11 AM from St. Aloysius Church, Wilkes-Barre. Family and friends may call from the Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday night from 4-7 PM. Interment will be private, held at the convenience of the family in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Plymouth.
