Phyllis A. (Miller) Hertz

MILTON - Phyllis Arlene (Miller) Hertz, 89, died Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove. She was born in Milton on January 1, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Lake Roland and Florence (Gearhart) Miller. On January 5, 1957 Phyllis married the late Richard R. Hertz and they celebrated 14 years of marriage together until his death on December 14, 1971. She was a graduate of Milton High School Class of 1946 and was noted as the student director of the senior class play. Phyllis worked for Bell Telephone as a switch board operator and worked for 10 years until 1956. After the passing of her husband Richard, she raised three children and became the owner and proprietor of Hertz’s Laddies Shoppe on Broadway Street until her retirement in 1987. Phyllis is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; David Rhine and Terri Hertz of Lewisville, NC, one daughter; Lynn Ann Hertz of Milton, two grandchildren; Stephanie Ann and Corrine Elsie Hertz and one brother; David Gearhart Miller of Gobleskill, NY. In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by one son; James Robert Hertz, one brother; Lake R., Sr. and one sister; Jean Miller Beachey. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701 or to a charity of one’s choice. A public viewing will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2018 at Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton. Burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family in Milton Cemetery, Milton.
