WILKES-BARRE- Philip Scavone, 86, of Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007 in Summit Health Care. Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 20, 1920, he was the son of the late Carl and Ruth (Martin) Scavone and was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Wilkes-Barre. He served in the United States Army during World War II where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was employed by Pioneer Manufacturing and prior to his retirement was employed by Keystate Bakery. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Burginia and Mary Hufford. Surviving is his daughter, Eleanor Ayers, Plains; grandchildren Robert Mitchell, Jr. and Sharon Mitchell Fazio; great grandchildren, Ann Mitchell, Nicholas and Matthew Fazio. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., Wilkes-Barre.
