YORK- Philip L. Erb, 83, of Manchester Township, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 at his residence. He leaves his companion Carolyn A. (Arendt) Bahn. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 2-3 p.m. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard at the start of the service. Burial will be private in Mount Rose Cemetery in York. Mr. Erb was born in Dover on September 7, 1933, the son of the late Earl R. and Ellen C. (Lauer) Erb. He retired from Red Lion School District, where he was a teacher. He also worked as an auctioneer and purchased houses, and repaired them to rent out and sell. He was a 1951 graduate of York High School and a graduate of Millersville University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Along with his companion, Carolyn, Mr. Erb leaves a daughter, Annie Swanick of York, a granddaughter, Amber Swanick, a sister, Rosalie E. Erb Bowers of Hershey and by Annie’s mother, Ruth H. Erb of York. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church, 250 Bethlehem Church Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356 or SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406.
