York—Philip H. Englar, 85, died Saturday, August 10, 2013 at his residence in York Township. He was the husband of Beatrice E. (Markley) Englar. The couple celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary October 6, 2012. A Graveside Tribute Service will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Prospect Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Roger Mentzer officiating. A funeral cortege will form at the Pennsylvania Ave entrance of the cemetery at 10:45 AM. A viewing will be held from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. Born January 15, 1928 in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Charles and Edna (Howard) Englar. He was employed with York Building Products as a machine operator/maintenance trouble shooter for 40 plus years until his retirement in 1989. A member of the Victory and Viking Athletic Associations, he was also a member of the W. York VFW, Red Lion American Legion, Hawks Club and Moose Lodge-York. In addition to his wife, Mr. Englar is also survived by two sons, Jay F. Englar of Dover and Ronny F. Englar and wife, Cheryl of Halifax; one daughter, Sherry E. Dean of York; seven grandchildren, Jay II, Ryan, Tim, Mike, Brant, Cassondra and Ricky; three great grandchildren, Lauren, Chris and Ariana; four brothers, Charles, William, Jesse and Larry; two sisters, Darla and Sylvia and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sons, Philip, John, Gary and Ricky, two sisters, Marie and Jeanenne and two brothers, Calvin and Norman. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to York Cancer Center, Patient Help Fund, 25 Monument Rd, Suite 194, York, PA 17403.
