Philip Allen Smith

Philip Allen Smith, 53 of Red Lion went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at his residence. He was a loving husband to his wife of 34 years, Ronalda L. [Smeltzer] Smith. A celebration of life service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth R. Gibson officiating. A viewing will be from 12-2:00 PM Wednesday at the Red Lion Chapel. Philip will enjoy his "last ride" in the Tombstone Harley Davidson motorcycle hearse as his funeral procession makes its way to Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born February 1, 1954 in York a son of the late James and Marie [Estep] Smith, he was an owner operator truck driver and previously had driven for Harley Davidson and worked as a diesel mechanic for Hertz Co. when they operated the Harley Davidson trucking fleet. He attended Pleasant View Brethren in Christ and was active with Promise Keepers. Philip was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed taking his Harley on rides with friends. His love for Harley Davidson's was only overshadowed by the time he spent spoiling his grandsons and family. In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith is survived by a beloved son, Lonni A. Smith of Red Lion; two precious daughters, Bryna L. Smith of Dallastown and Cristi L. and husband Andrew Rittenhouse of Goose Creek, SC; four adored grandsons, Kyle Smith, Tanner Messersmith, Chase Davis, and Gavin Rittenhouse; a brother, Randall and wife Debra Smith of Brogue; a sister, Helen and husband Virgil Anders of Kingsport, TN; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Snellbaker. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant View Brethren in Christ, 434 E.
