Phil Q. Scott, 62, of Mountain Top, formerly of Marion, Ohio, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011. Born on Sept. 29, 1948, he was a son of the late Robert Wheeler and Leavata (Scott) Tyler. He was a graduate of Marion Harding High School. After graduating high school, Phil worked for the Postal service in Marion. Shortly thereafter, Phil enlisted in the United States Army. He did two tours in Vietnam, where he received a Purple Heart. After the war, Phil also taught a seminar for Vietnam Vets at vocational school in Marion, Ohio and throughout Ohio. Phil worked as a U.S. Marshall and he also worked at the VA Center, Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church, Wilkes-Barre. Phil was an avid fisherman and loved to travel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepfather, Lloyd H. Tyler and maternal grandmother, Nellie E. Scott. Left to cherish his memory are son, Marcus S. Tyler, Marion, Ohio; 2 grandchildren; brothers, Mike and Tony Wheeler, both of Ohio; sisters, Theresa(Reverend Wallace) Smith and Cynthia Rackley, all of Mountain Top; and beloved nephew, Jeremy Rackley, Mountain Top.
