TROY- Pauline "Polly" (Ide) Blackwell, 80, long time resident of Troy, PA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 surrounded by her family at the home of her son. She was the loving wife of the late John D. Blackwell who passed away on June 21, 1996. The couple had 48 years together and again are united in Heaven. Family and friends are welcome to call from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, December 17, 2007 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy and again Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Troy, 121 West Main Street, Troy, PA. An Eastern Star service will be held Monday night at 8:00 PM at the funeral home and the memorial service to honor Polly's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the church with Rev. Jack Felt officiating. Burial will follow the service in Glenwood Cemetery. Polly was born on October 8, 1927 in Dallas, PA. She is the daughter of the late Marcus and Audrey (Eipper) Ide. In 1994 Polly retired from Paper Magic in Troy, after 27 years of service, where she was an Inventory Control Clerk. Polly was active in the community of Troy. She was very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Troy, was a Past Matron of Eastern Star, was on the board of directors of Alparon Park, and was involved in the Troy Vets Club. A plaque hangs in the Vets Club that says it all- "In Dedication to Pauline "Polly" Blackwell, Post #49 American Legion Auxiliary, in application for everything you've contributed, no greater gift could replace your time, concern, dedication, and love." Polly was also an avid gardener, she spent as much time as she could in her flowerbeds, and had beautiful flowers year after year. To Polly, family was everything. Her family includes her daughters: Diane (John) Blackwell-Hutsick of Athens, PA, Judy (Merle) Chaapel of Troy, PA, Barbie Blackwell of the Martha Lloyd Community in Troy, PA, Nancy (Denny) Oldroyd of Gillett, PA, her sons: Jim (Karen) Blackwell of Troy, PA, David Blackwell of Troy, PA, her grandchildren: Scott and Elizabeth Freeman, Sheila and Lonnie Heeter, Kimberly Chaapel, Ryan and Krissy Chaapel, Jennifer Oldroyd, Lindsay Oldroyd, Brenda Chrzan (Matt Lyon), Michelle Blackwell, ten great grandchildren, her brothers: Elwood (Shirley) Ide of Dallas, PA, Willis Ide of Dallas, PA, Ken Ide of Demarest, GA, Jim Ide (Don) of Williamsport, MD, her sisters: Peg Cobleigh of Troy, PA, Barbara (Willis) Osborn of Campbell, NY, Jan Russell of Dallas, PA, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, her husband John, her sister Thelma Bigelow, and her brothers Mark, Larry, and Tom Ide predecease Polly. Contributions may be made in Polly's memory to the memorial fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Troy, 121 West Main Street, Troy, PA 16947.
