EAST TROY- Pauline M. (Wilber) Calkins, 92,went to be with her Lord on March 17, 2007 at the Bradford County Manor. A Celebration of Pauline's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the Troy Baptist Church, 162 Canton Street, Troy, PA. Her pastor, Rev. Garry Zuber, will be officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family in Glenwood Cemetery. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street Troy, Pennsylvania has been entrusted with Pauline's arrangements. Pauline was born on February 15, 1915, was the daughter of the late Harry R. and Mary (Brown) Wilber, and was the beloved wife of Theodore W. Calkins of East Troy with whom she shared 69 years of marriage. Polly was a devoted member of the East Troy Baptist Church, having served some 40 years as treasurer, plus working in many other capacities for her Lord and Savior. She was a past member of the Rebekah Lodge #443 and the Order of The Eastern Star #76. She was known as "The Cookie Lady of East Troy" and with her husband Ted, delivered many meals to shut-ins. A gracious hostess, she could make a meal in minutes for anybody who dropped in to say hi. She and Ted entertained many at their cottage at Big Pond. Polly enjoyed baseball, her team of choice, the Atlanta Braves. Her working years found her at the Troy High School Cafeteria for 20 years, 10 of which she was the manager. After retirement Pauline joined the Troy Community Hospital Auxiliary, serving a volunteer in the hospital gift shop as long as she was physically able. Pauline loved her family very much. She was the proud mother of her daughter Blanche (Ervin) Burlingame of Ulster, PA, her sons Bill (Mary Jo) Calkins of Mifflinville, PA and Bob (Katie) Calkins of Bloomsburg, PA. Her grandchildren include Greg and Rich Bruce, Todd (Tammy) Bruce, Paula (Steve) Updike, Karei Calkins, Randi (Nick) Randall, Jesse and Maggie Calkins. Her great grandchildren are Nathaniel and Andrew Updike, Krystal and Dakotah Bruce, Greysen Schlupp, Ben and Eli Randall. Pauline was predeceased by her parents, and siblings Alice (Levi) Hall, Mildred (David) Burleigh, Gladys (Kenneth) VanNoy, Harry (Beryl) Wilber, and grandson Norman Bruce. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Pauline's memory to the East Troy Baptist Church, Box 21Troy, PA 16947.
