YORK – Pauline M. (Finke) Van Hyning, 91, passed July 3, 2021 peacefully at home, with her daughter by her side. She was the wife of the late Lieutenant Commander Carl W. Van Hyning. Born April 1, 1930, in York, she was a daughter of the late Paul G. and Emily E. Finke. Mrs. Van Hyning was a graduate of William Penn High School Class of 1948 and a member of the Eastern Star – Friendship Chapter. Knitting, playing golf, and traveling were just a few of her interests. Being the wife of a naval officer, Mrs. Van Hyning had the opportunity to live in my different places, from Atlantic City, New Jersey; to Alaska. But her favorite duty station was Bermuda, 1957-1959. Mrs. Van Hyning is survived by a daughter, Susan E. Van Hyning; a son, Mark E. Van Hyning and his wife Janice; three grandchildren, Eric, Sean, and Jenna; and a sister, Jeanne J. Anstadt. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Van Hyning is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Kauffman; and a brother, Edward L. Finke.
