Pauline E. (Schwartz) Shanabrough, 98, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Manor Care Health Services South in York. She was the wife of the late Kenneth C. Shanabrough. The couple were married 62 before Kenneth’s passing in 2002. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 10AM on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Michael K. Fisher, Chaplain of Country Meadows, officiating. A viewing will be held from 9 to 10AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Born December 3, 1918 in Taneytown, MD, Pauline was a daughter of the late Maurice E. and Martha E. (Peters) Schwartz. She worked as a hairdresser from the age of 16, eventually owning her own beauty shop. She “retired” at 90, giving her last haircut to her daughter, Bonnie. Mrs. Shanabrough was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in York. She was also a member of AARP and TPA. Pauline enjoyed “Jeopardy,” coupon shopping, sewing, crafts, playing the organ and singing hymns. Mrs. Shanabrough is survived by two sons, K. Joel Shanabrough and his wife Marilyn of Huntsville, AL, and John C. Shanabrough and his wife Linda of Harrisburg; a daughter, Bonnie Loucks; seven grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents, Pauline was preceded in death by eight siblings, Margaret, Maurice, Roy, Earl, Charles, Lewis, Millard, and Helen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 415 N West St., York, PA 17404. “The family would like to thank the staffs at both Country Meadows Trolley Road and ManorCare York South for the wonderful care afforded to their mother.”
