MILTON - Pauline Anne (Retoric) McGee, 89, of 109 Woodsedge Drive, died at her home on Thursday, May 17, 2012. She was born in Clarence, PA on November 9, 1922, the daughter of the late John and Julia (Kachik). She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Milton. After graduating from Williamsport High School in 1940, she held several retail positions in Williamsport. In 1942, she gained employment at Lycoming Motors in Williamsport where she met her future husband George. George served in World War II with the United States Air Force 340th Fighter Squadron in the Pacific Theatre. And when he returned home, they were married in 1946 and spent 57 years as husband and wife until his death in 2003. Pauline was very active in church and community functions. She established and managed the library at St. Joseph’s Elementary school in memory of her daughter Teresa, and she organized the cafeteria workers at the school. She chaired the Annual Church Christmas Bazaar many years, and she was co-chair of the Annual St. Joseph’s Summer Festival. In the seventies with the help of her Bridge Club, she organized and produced several talent shows featuring local acts. Proceeds from the events were donated to the Milton Chapter of the Cancer Society, the Milton Chapter of the Red Cross, and the Milton YMCA. In 1976, Pauline was saluted by the Milton Standard as one of the Distinguished Citizens of the Lower West Branch Valley. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed entertaining BU football and basketball players at Sunday dinners, supporting them by attending their games, treating them with chocolate chip cookies, and keeping up with them as they developed their careers and established their families. She also loved following the sporting endeavors of her grandchildren – by attending their events to cheer them on or calling them with a congratulatory message. Most recently, she has taken great pleasure being a spectator at her great grandchildren’s games. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her daughter; Teresa Anne, her brother-in-law; Henry Michael McGee of Sharon, PA and her great granddaughter; Kahla Counsil. She is survived by her daughters; Anne and her husband Charles Chiccino of Malvern, PA, Mary and her husband Tony DeLong of Milton, PA Jane McGee of Silver Spring, MD, Rita and her husband John Spangler of Williamsport, PA and Trish and her husband Keith Peterman of York, PA. Pauline loved her grandchildren Stephen and Rebekah DeLong and their children Luke and Trent, Mark and Laura DeLong and their children Kara and Drew, Jenny and Rich Counsil and their children Eric, Mackenzie, Emily, Brandon and Samantha, Ryan and Tiffany Fisher, Michael Fisher, Elizabeth Spangler, John and Kara Spangler and Julia McGee. Contributions may be made to the McGee Family Scholarship Fund, c/o the Milton Area School District, 700 Mahoning St., Milton, PA 17847. There will be a public viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012 at The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Broadway, Milton, with the Reverend John D. Hoke as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
