FELTON - Mr. Paul R. Runkle, 72, passed away Monday, January 29, 2007 at his home. He was the loving husband of Darlene (Daugherty) Runkle for over 49 years. Viewings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2007 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2007 at Crossroads United Methodist Church, 6881 Church Road in Felton. Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Michael G. Trimmer officiating. Burial will be in Cross Roads United Methodist Cemetery. Mr. Runkle was born August 1, 1934 in East Hopewell Township. He was the son of the late Martin and Rebecca (Shaull) Runkle. Mr. Runkle retired in 1996 from the United States Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier in Felton. Prior to being a mail carrier, he worked on his farm, and also served as an Insurance Agent. He graduated from Red Lion High School in 1951. He was a lifelong member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church, where he served as trustee and financial secretary. He also sang with the Chancel Choir, and was a volunteer on Mission Work Camps. He was a member and past President of Stewartstown Lions Club. Mr. Runkle served in the United States Army as a Clerk in the Pentagon. Some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, and attending Penn State Football games. Mr. Runkle loved spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Darlene, he also leaves two sons; Brian Runkle of Dallastown, and Scott Runkle and his fianc裠Lisa Masenheimer of Felton, a daughter, Rebecca Runkle of Baltimore, MD, two granddaughters; Laura Runkle of Felton and fianc矊ason Rineholt of Stewartstown, and Michelle Runkle of Felton, two sisters; Beverly Schott and husband Lenwood of Felton, and Doris McMurphy of Felton, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Sauter, two brother's-in-law, Traver McMurphy and Reynold Daugherty, and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Runkle.
