York - Paul J. Kury, 82, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Manor Care-North. He was the husband of Sara J. (Black) Kury to whom he was married for 58 years. A memorial mass will be held 1:30 PM, Saturday, March 8, 2008 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 231 S. Beaver St., York, with Rev., Fr. Samuel E. Houser officiating. Private burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Kury was born November 12, 1925 in Lebanon County, the son of the late Anthony J. and Teresa M. (Karli) Kury. He served the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a State Trooper for 32 years. Following his retirement in 1979, Mr. Kury worked nine years as a Tipstaff for Judge Kennedy. He was a member of the Pennsylvania and American Association of State Troopers, Fraternal Order of Police, Viking Athletic Association of York, and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Mr. Kury was a veteran of WWII, serving from 1943 to 1946 in the US Marines. He enjoyed woodworking, carving, and fishing; and was a loving father and family member. Mr. Kury is survived by two sons; Michael Kury and wife Patricia, and Joseph Kury and wife Lisa, both of York; three daughters; Patricia Kury and husband Eugene of Flordia, Nancy Kury and husband Michael, and Jane Jewels both of York; two brothers; Frances Kury of North Carolina and Joseph Kury of Lebanon; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jacob and Anthony Kury. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 231 S. Beaver St., York, or to Heartland Hospice, 3417A Concord Rd., York, PA 17402
