YORK-Paul J. “Glady” Gladfelter, Jr., 84, of Conewago Township, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024 at his residence. He was the husband of Kayleen F. (Thomas) Gladfelter. The couple celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on August 29, 2023.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 1-2 p.m. Fraternal Order of Police, White Rose Lodge #15 will be providing an honor guard. The York County Veterans Honor Guard will provide full military honors at the start of the service. The Reverend Josh Tipton and Bishop Jerry Tipton will be officiating at the service. Burial will be private in Mount Rose Cemetery in York.
Paul was born in York on November 15, 1939, the son of the late Paul J. Gladfelter, Sr. and Marea B. (Miller) Gladfelter. He served in the US Marine Corps. and then went to work for Allis Chalmers, as a boilermaker. He then began his career in law enforcement, retiring in 1992 as a York City Police Officer, and continued as a working constable in York and then Conewago Townships, and then finished his career as an armed guard for Schaad Detective Agency.
Paul was a long-time member of Pentecostals of York and also of the Apostolic Ministries Church in Hanover. He loved praying for people. He was a member and served as the chaplain for the Fraternal Order of Police, White Rose Lodge #15. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed hunting, especially on his farm in West Virginia, and spending time with his family and his pets. He had a love for all animals
Along with his wife Kayleen, he leaves two sons, Daniel Gladfelter of York and Todd Gladfelter of Norfolk, VA; and a grandson, Jacob Gladfelter and his wife Carolina. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rachael Graham and a brother, Will Gladfelter.
