RED LION--PAUL E. SAYLOR of Red Lion PA, died 12/24/2020, at the home of his daughter where he had resided since 2009. A member of the Greatest Generation, he passed peacefully on Christmas Eve morning. Born in East Yoe (now Cape Horn area) on November 4, 1925, to Carl E. Saylor and Mary Helen Marshall Saylor, Paul was the oldest of five children. He grew up and attended school in Yoe, Bittersville, Windsor, completed high school at Red Lion High (class of 1943), and later studied at Thompson Business College in York, and then during retirement years took classes at Wilkes Community College in NC. Paul joined the U. S. Navy in September 1943 and was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Base until May 1944, when he shipped out to California, and then Hawaii where he was assigned to the USS Washington (BB56). He served as Yeoman Third Class while in the South Pacific Theater for 13 months. Married 62 years to Wanzoleen Landreth of Sparta NC on December 27, 1946 until her death on March 6, 2009, Paul and Wanda were blessed with three children. He is survived by his children and their spouses – Paula Jean and Paul Burt of Hershey PA, Muriel Ann and Dennis Slenker of Red Lion PA, Michael John and Alison Saylor of Carlisle MA; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, four great/great grandchildren and one due in the spring; plus, several step-grand and step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by two of his sisters, Mary Kurtz and Patricia Flickinger. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, Doris Hoffmaster, and his brother, Richard Saylor. Paul was employed from 1946 – 1985 at Associated Wholesalers, Inc. of York (formerly Associated Grocers) where he began as the bookkeeper accountant and retired as controller and corporate treasurer. He served as a York Township Commissioner from 1971-1987. He was a member of Chapel Church near Red Lion where he served in various financial and audit team capacities through the years. Paul loved his Lord, his large extended family, his church family, his many friends, and his country. He served God by serving others and always shared his resources as freely as his witness. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Graveside Tribute will be held at 1PM, Saturday February 13, 2021 in Windsor Cemetery; Windsor Township and will be livestreamed on the Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/olewilertributes/live .
