Paul E. Hoke, Jr. 81 of York died Friday, March 9, 2007 at Autumn House West. He was the husband of the late Mary I. [Alloway] Hoke. A celebration of life service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with his pastor, the Rev. Elmer W. V. Scofield officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's (Wolf's) Union Cemetery with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Viewings will be from 6-8:00 PM Monday and 9:30-10:00 AM Tuesday at the Chapel. Born March 25, 1925 in York a son of the late Paul E. Hoke, Sr. and the late Stella J. [Baker] Hoke. He was a school teacher for 35 year with York City Schools, retiring in 1985. Mr. Hoke was a West Manchester Twp. public elected official for 25 years including serving 18 years as a West Manchester Twp. Supervisor and being the Board Chairman for 16 years. He was a member of Prince Athletic Assoc.; St. Stephen's United Church of Christ; Shiloh American Legion; was a life member of Lincolnway Fire Co. where he served as President for 5 years; and a life member of both Royal Fire Co and West York VFW. His Masonic affiliations include being a 50 year member of Zeredetha Lodge 451 F&AM and Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, serving in the 795th Anti-Aircraft Artillery unit. Mr. Hoke is survived by two sons, Doug Hoke of York and James R. and wife Terri Hoke of Charleston, WV; two grandchildren, Ryan and Lindsay Hoke; and a sister, Ruth Glass of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marlin Hoke. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen's UCC, 1569 W. Market Street, York, PA 17404.
