WRIGHTSVILLE- Paul E. “Shorty” Crumbling, Sr., 92, of Chanceford Township passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024 at his daughter’s residence in York, surrounded by his loving family after a period of declining health. He was the husband of the Joann M. (Horn) Crumbling to whom he was married to for 63 years at the time of her passing in 2019.


Paul was born in Hellam on May 11, 1932, the son of the late Curvin and Martha (Strickler) Crumling. He retired from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, local 520.


Paul was a member of the Wrightsville Social Club, Red Lion American Legion and Hellam VFW. He had many friends in and out of these organizations who loved and enjoyed his presence and sense of humor. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He served in the US Army in the Korean war, where he was stationed in Germany.


Paul leaves two daughters, Sharon Posey and her husband Rusty of Shallotte, NC and Cynthia Fornwalt of York; a son, Todd Crumbling of Perkasie, PA; five grandchildren, Christopher Ropp, Cassandra Gaus, Kirsty Brent, Paul Crumbling, III, and Ethan Crumbling; eight great grandchildren; a great, great, granddaughter, as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Crumbling, Jr.; a grandson, Gavin Ropp; and a son-in law, Carl Fornwalt. He was the youngest of four children and preceded in death by his two sisters and his brother.

Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is assisting the family with the arrangements.


A memorial service will be held at a later date.
