MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP- Paul C. "Bud" Wolfgang, Jr., 79, of York died Friday, June 13, 2008 at his residence. He was the husband of M. Beatrice (Scott) Wolfgang. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York. Visitations will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday and 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Bud was born in North York on October 8, 1928, the son of the late Paul C. and Elsie M. (Suereth) Wolfgang, Sr. Bud was a lifelong member of the Outdoor Country Club; his favorite pastime was golfing. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing, traveling, horse racing, and photography. Later in life, Bud became an avid reader and was involved in the Libertarian Party. He could be found outside working in his yard. After attending Grove City College, he became the Salesperson and Warehouse Manager for the family business that his father started, D.E. Wolfgang Candy Co., Inc. His innovative marketing approach and creation of a catalog as a sales tool for fundraising, was instrumental to the rapid success of the business. After 50 years of service, the former Vice President of Marketing retired from Wolfgang Candy and started a small antique business with his wife, Wolfgang Candy Collectibles. He was a member of Hayshire U.C.C. in York. Bud leaves a son, Mark C. Wolfgang of Red Lion, two daughters: Carol A. Martin and her husband Marvin of Glen Rock, and Jane M. Wolfgang of West Lawn, PA, a granddaughter, Rikki Martin, two grandsons, Brandon and Matthew Keeny, two step grandsons: Eric and Jason Martin, and a step great granddaughter: Kylie Martin. He also leaves a sister, Lois Dittenhaffer and her husband William of York and two brothers: Thomas Wolfgang and his wife Ruth and Douglas Wolfgang and his wife Susan both of York and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3417-C Concord Rd., York, PA 17402.
