YORK- Paul B. Tice, Jr., 85, died Saturday July 18, 2009 at Rest Haven. He was the loving husband of Marian L. (Rothermel) Tice. The couple celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on August 17, 2008. A viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Faith United Church of Christ, 509 Pacific Ave., York, with Pastor Uble Frost officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Rose Cemetery. Mr. Tice was born on October 29, 1923 in Lebanon, PA, a son of the late Paul and Virgie (Sando) Tice, Sr. Mr. Tice was a licensed Public Accountant and was self-employed at Tice Associates, P.C. He never really retired, working a few days a week up until his death. Mr. Tice served our country for three years in the US Navy during WWII. He was a flag signalman for Admiral Wm. Halsey's fast carrier task force in the Pacific on the USS Wild Bill Hickox Fletcher Class Destroyer. Paul was a Charter Member of the West York Optimist Club, a Charter Member of the South Central Chapter of Pa Society of Public Accountants where he served as Secretary. He was for many years the treasurer of Lincolnway PTO as well as West York Band Parents Club. Mr. Tice was a 50-year member of Zeredatha Lodge No. 451 F & A.M. and R.W. Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Pa. Along with his wife, Mr. Tice leaves a son, Paul F. Tice and his wife Alice J. of Thomasville; a daughter, Barbara J. Kindig of York; seven grandchildren, Michael, James, Melinda, and Joanna Tice, Brian and his wife Mary Ellen Kindig, Stacey and her husband William Urey, and Nicole D. Fetter; three great grandchildren, Samuel and Norah Kindig and Payton Urey; and a son in law, Neal Fetter. Preceding him in death was a daughter, Kathryn L. Fetter and a brother, Charles Tice. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Church of Christ, 509 Pacific Ave., York, PA., 17404.
