Patsy S. (Brooks) Curran

BROGUE- Patsy Sue (Brooks) Curran, 71, of Brogue, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Hospice & Community Care, Mt. Joy due to complications from cancer. She was the beloved wife of P. David Curran, her best friend and one true love for 31 years.

Patsy was born in Hanover and was the daughter of the late Doyle Clifford and Lenamae (Fisher) Brooks.

Patsy graduated from Hanover High School and worked at Pfaltzgraff for 19 years. She then retired from Harley Davidson in 2011 after 14 years when they started to downsize the workforce, where she held several appointed union positions, full time safety rep and full-time union educator. Not quite ready to fully retire, she went to work for S&H Express where she was a driver recruiter for 7 years, retiring in 2018.

She was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Brogue and sang in the choir until she could no longer use her voice to the glory of God. She enjoyed reading, collecting books, watching the birds at the bird feeders, following NASCAR and loved her cocker spaniels.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, David Curran and his wife, Mary-Ann of Red Lion; daughter, Jennifer Smith and her husband, Tim of Red Lion; brother, Miles Berton Brooks and his wife, Nancy; sister Phyllis Eyler and her husband, Carl; brother-in-law, Daniel Curran; and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with Pastor Douglas Royer officiating. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. A private graveside will immediately follow at New Harmony Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center Inc., PO Box 1704, Westminster, MD 21158, Collinsville Community Library, 2632 Delta Rd., Brogue, PA 17309 or to New Hope Presbyterian Church, PO Box 146, Brogue, PA 17309 for the church building fund.
