Patricia J. (Hivner) Shaffer

RED LION - Patricia J. (Hivner) Shaffer, 77, passed away July 23, 2010 at her home. She was the wife of the late Richard S. Shaffer. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with her pastor, The Rev. Dr. D. Guy Carrigan officiating. Private burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born June 2, 1933 in Windsor a daughter of the late Claude P. and Orpha (Shearer) Hivner, she was a 1951 graduate of Red Lion High School and a 1954 graduate of York Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Shaffer worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at York Hospital and later in her career at Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehab Center. She enjoyed swimming at the Southern York Co. YMCA and the York YWCA. Mrs. Shaffer also loved traveling to foreign countries with her late husband. She was an active member and volunteer at Grace United Methodist Church in Windsor. Mrs. Shaffer is survived by a daughter, Erica L. and husband Thomas Cover of Hockessin, DE; two grandchildren, Caroline and Thomas Cover, Jr.; and a sister, Doris and husband Wallace Brenneman of Red Lion. She was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Laucks.
