DOVER Patricia Christine “Pattie” Atkins, 31, of Dover, died at 8:58 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011 at York Hospital. Viewings will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. A service to celebrate Pattie’s life will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday with her uncle, the Rev. A. F. Clark, officiating. Pattie was born December 2, 1979, in Towson, MD. She was the daughter of Ruth A. (Hare) Atkins of Dover and the late John W. Atkins, Sr. She was a 1998 graduate of Red Lion Area High School and was currently enrolled in the Business Accounting Program at York Technical Institute. Pattie was a special person with a heart of gold and would willingly help anyone. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and many friends. In addition to her mother, Pattie is survived by her son, John Richard Shaub of Dover, Two step daughters, Rebecca Shaub and Ashley Shaub, of York; six sisters, Ruthetta Lynn Atkins of Waynesboro, Charlotte Hansen of Littlestown, Barbara Medicus of Dover, Sharron Dull of Finksburg, MD, Yvonne Howell of South Carolina, and Joyce Johnson of Hanover; three brothers Jeffrey Haymire of Dover, William Atkins of White Marsh, MD, and John W. Atkins, Jr., of Hanover; and her companion, Richard K. Shaub of York. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund for the benefit of Pattie’s son, John has been established at Susquehanna Bank.
