Patricia A. Markel

YORK- Patricia A. (Smith) Markel, 75, of York Township, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Kenneth L. Markel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 6-7 p.m. Certified Celebrant Kasie Watkins will be officiating at the service. A Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. Mrs. Markel was born in York on July 13, 1940, the daughter of the late Edgar E. and Ida C. (Horn) Smith. She retired from York County Recorder of Deeds in 2012. Mrs. Markel was a life member of the VFW ladies auxiliary, and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and Viking Athletic Club. She was an avid wine maker along with her late husband and enjoyed bingo, cross stitching, and had a passion for her dogs. Mrs. Markel is survived by two God sons, Matthew A.V. Fetrow and Christian S, Fetrow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lebanon VA Medical Center, LVA-MC-10V, 1700 South Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
