BROGUE – P. Thomas Waltemyer, 86, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012 at Manor Care Dallastown. He was the husband of Ferne R. (Brown) Waltemyer with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage on June 28, 2012. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Private burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Born January 26, 1926 in Muddy Creek Forks, a son of the late Paul E. and Cora E. (Walker) Waltemyer, he began his career as a welder during WWII in the shipyards of Port Deposit, MD. In 1944 Tom enlisted in the US Navy and served two years, the majority of which he was stationed in the South Pacific. Mr. Waltemyer had belonged to the Iron Worker’s Union Local 404 in Harrisburg, retired in 1987 after 36 years of service. He loved being an ironworker. In addition to his wife, Mr. Waltemyer is survived by three sons, Tyrone K. and wife Joan Waltemyer of Wellsboro, PA, Gerald T. and wife Virginia Waltemyer of The Sea Ranch, CA, and Brett E. and wife Cathy Waltemyer of Brogue; four granddaughters; one great grandson; a sister, Eleanora Dellinger of Brogue; and several nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 2335 Cramer Rd., Brogue, PA 17309 or to Heartland Hospice, 3417 Concord Road, Suite C, York, PA 17402.
