P. Neil Pflum

SEAL BEACH, CA- P. Neil Pflum, 53, died on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, after a brief illness. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. A visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service. The service will have two parts--a serious sad side and a light-hearted remembering side. Born on February 1, 1964 in Ravenna, OH, he was a son of David J. and Anita Kovach of York. Neil was a 1982 graduate of Red Lion High School and a 1987 graduate of West Virginia University. He worked as an Environmental Engineer in private industry and for the U.S. Government both in the EPA and later as a civilian with the U.S. Navy. During a hiatus in his engineering career, he was a Life Coach and a Trainer--combining vocal music and personal and professional motivation as the Musical Motivator. He also authored and co-authored two books. He loved nature, the beach, and living in Dallas and Hawaii. A special place on the planet for him was the Grand Teton National Park in WY. Along with his parents, Neil is survived by his step brother, Peter Kovach and wife, Amy of Mechanicsburg; two step sisters, Deborah Caldwell and husband, Ray Rettino of South Orange, NJ and Judy Brady and husband, Pat of Landisville; nieces and nephews, Laura and Alex Kovach, Ben and Danny Caldwell, Alex and Katerina Rettino and Meghan, Kyle and Duncan Brady; his aunt, Nancy Bushey of Hagerstown; and cousins, Alisa Burgdoff, Jeff Reedy and Paige Fishack, her husband Dale, and Neil's nephews, Chandler and Logan Fishack.
