P. Lee Gruver

DALLASTOWN – P. Lee Gruver, 91, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023 at UPMC Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Gloria (Young) Gruver with whom he celebrated 71 years of marriage on February 2, 2023.


Born July 16, 1931 in Red Lion a son of the late Preston and Wynne (Snyder) Gruver, Lee graduated from Red Lion High School in 1949. He retired from the former Borg Warner (York International) and was a member of their 25-year club. Mr. Gruver was a member of Winterstown UM Church. Lee had played baseball for Lucky in the Twilight League and Winterstown in the Susquehanna League. He loved fishing as a young child with his father and passed his love onto his sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Chincoteague was one of his favorite fishing spots. He also loved hunting, especially at Winterstown Hunting Camp, with his sons and grandson.


In addition to his wife, Mr. Gruver is survived by sons, Randy and wife JoAnna Gruver of Felton and Joel and wife Judy Gruver of Dallastown; grandchildren, Michael, Timothy, Ashley, and Casey; great grandchildren, Weston and Caroline; a brother-in-law, Garland Gingerich of Willow Valley; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Gingerich.


A tribute service will be held at a later date. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
