Felton- Orlo W. Achenbach, 79, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Doris J. (Raver) Achenbach. The couple were married 53 years before Doris’ passing in June of 2010. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with The Reverend Stephany S. Sechrist, officiating. A viewing will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born October 11, 1937 in Pottsville, Orlo was a son of the late Orlo E. and Tillie M. (Straub) Achenbach. Mr. Achenbach served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, where he received an occupational medal. Orlo also received an occupational medal for his service in Lebanon in 1958. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0945, AARP, the American Diabetes Association, the Red Lion VFW Post 1446, of which he was a past Commander, the York County Fire Police Association, and the Union Volunteer Fire Company, of which he served as secretary. Mr. Achenbach is survived by five children, Alice M. Gante of West York, William W. Achenbach and his wife Carol of Cape Coral, FL, Dwight D. Achenbach and his wife Heather of West York, Cheryl A. Krout and her husband Scott of Seven Valleys, and Ethan A. Achenbach and his wife Stacie of Red Lion; seven grandchildren, Benjamin Achenbach and his wife Amanda, Lyndsey Achenbach and her fiancée Jeremy Gillis, Elizabeth Cornelius and her husband Ty, Cameron Achenbach, Kyle and Kayla Gante and Tiffany Kauffman; four great grandchildren, Conner Colby, Graysyn Gillis, Kole Gillis and Gage Gillis; a brother, John A. Achenbach of New Tripoli, PA; a sister, Diane F. Kasko of Drexelhill, PA, an numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his wife and parents, Orlo was preceded in death by a sister, Martha E. Sterner. Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Lion VFW- Post 1446, 815 S. Main Street, Red Lion, PA 17356.
