Olive R. (Roberts) Swank

JENKINS TOWNSHIP-Olive R. Swank, 95, formerly of Ashley, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at Wesley Village, Jenkins Twp. Born in Wilkes-Barre on June 11, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Clara Roberts. Olive was last employed at Ashley Quilting Company. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Ashley, where she was active in their Women's Society and many other activities. She was a member of the Ashley Senior Citizens and also enjoyed bowling in many different leagues. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Swank, who passed away in 1983; a brother, George Roberts; and sister, Elizabeth Paine. Olive is survived by her son, the Reverend Walter A. Swank and his wife, Sandy, West Chester; brother, Thomas Roberts, Wyoming; four grandchildren, Brian, Heather, Jennifer and Jessica; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Andrea M. McDonnel will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends may call Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
