Olga H. (Resczak) Owen

WEST BURLINGTON- Olga Helen Rusczak Owen, 87, of Ridgebury PA passed away in her sleep on April 15, 2010, after a courageous battle for life. She was cared for by loving family. She was the daughter of Frances and Michael Rusczak and was born in Elmira NY on Jan. 12, 1923. After graduating from Elmira Free Academy, she worked at the Holding Point in Horseheads, Remington Rand in Elmira, and retired from the Arnot Ogden Hospital after 30 years of service as a nurse's aide. She was married to Guy William Owen on Oct. 27, 1945. They made their home on their farm in Ridgebury PA. Olga was a member of St. Ann's Church in Ridgebury until its closing and then transferred her membership to Epiphany Church in Sayre. She was an avid bingo player. Olga is survived by one son, John D. Owen, who cared for her in their family home; three grandsons: Ben Owen of Leesburg VA; Jonathan (Joe) and William Owen of McLean VA; and Lt. Daniel Owen of the US Coast Guard presently serving in the Republic of Georgia; a daughter-in-law, Susan Owen of Whitacre VA; a sister, Ann Schwab, of Elmira NY; nieces and nephews: Jack and special niece, Ruth Owen, and family; Francis and Pat Owen and family; Ann Carrigan; Jim and Trudy Owen and family; Bob Owen and family; Bill Owen; Thomas and Sally Owen and family; Mary Owen; Ron Owen and family; Beth and Dick Oldroyd and family; Jan Schwab and family; Steven Schwab; and Olga's ‘special' family of Scott and Ellen Molnar and daughters Elizabeth, Kirstie, and Leanne; Mark Molnar and Chris Robbins and family. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Guy William Owen, who passed away when he, too, was 87, on December 8, 1987; a son, Guy (Andy) Owen on December 4, 2004; and brothers: Charles, Joseph, and Nicholas Rusczak. Friends are invited to share in a time to remember Olga at Robert's Funeral Home in Wellsburg NY on Monday, April 19th, at 10:00 am. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Bentley Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to either Guthrie Hospice or the charity of one's choice.
