WATSONTOWN — Norman R. "Slim" Phillips, 80, passed away on Monday, July 07, 2008 at his residence. He was married to the late Helen E. "Hellion" (Rea) Phillips who had died on June 05, 2008. A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, Inc., 125 N. Front St., Milton with his pastor of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Reverend Scott E. Zimmerer officiating. A public viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Watsontown Cemetery with military honors. Norman was born in Allenwood on August 18, 1927 and was a son of the late Norman L. and Sueanna (Beck) Phillips. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He had received the Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the United Nations Service Medal. He had married the former Helen E. (Rea) on May 24, 1957. He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Norman was a former employee of Philco, Zenith TV Cabinets and was also a guard for Wells Fargo. He was always interested and enjoyed farming and fishing. Norman is survived by two sons and one daughter in law; David E. Phillips, Mark A. and Sunny Phillips, two daughters and one son in law; Nancy and Terry Manning and Kathy Phillips, all of Watsontown, one grandson, Rob Moyer, Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Milton, and two brothers; Alvin E. Phillips of McCewensville and Lawrence D. Phillips of Milton. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother; Chester L. Phillips. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
