Norman H. Hassell

Seven Valleys—Norman H. Hassell, 83, died Thursday, July 19, 2007 at his residence in N. Codorus Township. He was the husband of Joan D. (Pachulski) Hassell, to whom he was married for 53 years. A life tribute service will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. Burial will be held in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Seven Valleys. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday, and from 9-10 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral chapel. Mr. Hassell was born December 7, 1923 in Saba, Netherlands Antilles, a son of the late Henry J. and Verena (Johnson) Hassell. He was a small business owner and construction contractor of Springstead Construction in Staten Island, NY for 30 years, until his retirement in 1987. A member of the Free & Accepted Masons - Brooklyn NY Lodge, he was also a member of the Spring Grove Lions Club and Spring Grove V.F.W. He also enjoyed farming, deep sea fishing and was an avid gardener. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hassell is also survived by one son, Norman H. Hassell Jr., of W. Swanzey, NH, four daughters, Linda A. Reiser of Clyo, GA, Donna J. Brown of York, Marguerite Barger of Thomasville and Kathleen S. Yates of South New Jersey, 12 grandchildren, Norman H. III and Jonathan P. Hassell, Dennis C. Wright, Jennifer Moore, Kristina J., Tricia L., and Stephanie D. Mitschele, Madison M. Barger, Justine L., Rachel M., Corie K., and Cole Yates, 4 great-grandchildren, Thomas C., Brett R., and Kendall A. Moore and Dennis C. Wright III, and one sister, Marguerite Hassell of Saba, Netherlands Antilles.
