Norma K. (Sprenkle) Wise

RED LION - Norma Kathryn Wise, 94, entered into rest on Thursday, August 3 2023 with her family and caregivers by her side. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul Robert Wise. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage filled with love, friendship, family, baseball, and playing cards.


Norma was born on May 25,1929 to Mary S. (Posey) and C. Walter Sprenkle. She was the youngest of 6 siblings.


She is survived by her beloved sister, Dorothy P. Mohr (Henry) of Mt. Wolf, and nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own.


Norma was proceeded in death by her brothers Bruce R. Sprenkle (Virginia), Earl S. Sprenkle (Lois), Carl W. Sprenkle, and Dale A. Sprenkle (Mamie).


Norma leaves behind one daughter Julie (Jeff) Beard of Felton, two granddaughters Lauren Beard (Kyle) of Red Lion and Hannah Beard (Chase) of York, and two beloved great granddaughters, Wella Nightingale and Flora Shawn.


Norma worked in banking in Red Lion for 20 years and as a Tip Staff at the York County Courthouse. She loved customer relationships and lifelong friendships with Red Lion classmates.


A lifetime member of Bethany Church in Red Lion, Norma was involved in Girl Scouting, was a Communion Steward, and served on other committees. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels locally. Norma and her husband Bob placed American Flags on Veterans' graves in the Red Lion Cemetery for several years. Additionally, Norma often served as a poll worker on Election Day.


Norma enjoyed trips to Ocean City with her family and bus trips, especially to Orioles games and even Orioles Spring Training days over the years. Norma enjoyed cooking and baking, using recipes passed down from her mother and her Aunt Margaret. An avid card player, she played weekly and monthly in a few clubs with sisters-in-law and friends.


Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take someone to lunch to honor friendships that were so important to Norma.
